CLEVER* wanted us to look at their current app and expand it's current functionality
*CLEVER is today Bee Charging Solutions
To see what functionality was needed, we held qualitative interviews with stakeholders and users. The stakeholder interviews led to some idea generation where secondary tasks like activities and partnerships with owners of some of their charging stations. Overall the stakeholders were interested in getting a more modern touch and good-looking application.
The user interviews focused on describing the experiences of owning and using an Electric Vehicle. The users expressed a lack of functionality across most existing apps that help Electric Vehicle users navigate and utilize different charging stations. Overall the landscape for existing users of Electric Vehicles was still relatively small compared to fossil fuel alternatives. Most of our users were high educated males with a background in engineering and an interest in problem-solving. After our interviews, we created personas and scenarios to express the users' needs.

Prototyping and Evaluating
After the interviews, we conducted sketching and created low-fidelity wireframes and storyboards. After that, we got feedback from other designers on our wireframes and storyboards. When using the designer feedback as a validation scenario, we started creating hi-fidelity screens to put together an interactive app in InVision. We conducted scenario-driven tests and followed up with interviews. The output from the interviews led to some validation on what we had previously gathered was something that was needed and wanted, and we also used it to further add elements of gamification as that was a topic that came up in our evaluation sessions.
